I’ve Forgiven Once…

By | October 12, 2012

Matt 18:21-22
21 Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?”
22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you,up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

When do you stop forgiving? When God stops forgiving you. Survey the sins you have committed today in thought or in deed. For those things that you have done today, do you deserve forgiveness? This question is for you to answer. I for myself must answer “no.”

Forgiveness is really not something you can learn…I contend that the Bible does not teach how to forgive. The Bible teaches how to be possessed by the One Who can enable us to forgive… Are you willing to release what you want so that Jesus can direct you to what He wants for you? We want to be owners but God wants us to be stewards. Peter wanted seven times to be enough but Jesus said that is just the beginning Peter.

Jesus is letting us know: You won’t be able to finish this race unless you let Me run it for you.

I can’t forgive no matter how much knowledge I have about forgiveness unless Jesus does the forgiving through me.

Let us pray:
Father forgive us of our sins and empower us to forgive others by teaching us to depend completely on Your power to do it through us. For our self in flesh will not allow us to do it.

Let the redeemed of the Lord say, Amen.
